Le Bassin Romantique, first photobook of Nicolas Seurot's project Visions passéistes [Old-fashioned visions], is a series of images created around the Bassin d'Arcachon (or Arcachon Bay), between Bordeaux and the Atlantic Ocean, in southwest France.
Nicolas Seurot, a connoisseur of the art of painting, and a dilettante painter himself, developed a technique that allows him to create a very peculiar atmosphere in his images, somewhat old-fashioned or antiquated, and quite close to the feel of paintings. The colors of the bay, the soft tones, the texture and the simple and self-evident composition of the images create a series that strikes the eye through its simple beauty and timelessness.
The book is available in a choice of two different covers: "Shore" or "Tree Branch" (see photos).
