Home Town, published in 2002, is one of the first books of Antoine d'Agata; it is now difficult to find and sought after by collectors, like many other works of the artist.

We offer here a signed copy in excellent condition.

Home Town is less transgressive than the more recent productions of Antoine d'Agata. Although drugs and sex are present in the series of images proposed, this book leaves an impression of travel from normality to excess and transgression; it shows us the wandering and tension that are part of this journey ...

Beautiful images of the countryside and the city connect us to reality, endearing portraits show the links between the artist and his drifting companions, the drug related images remind us of the violence of this wandering, those of sex question us on the desire and the "emotional shortcuts" (according to the editor) borrowed by these travelers ...

This book was signed by Antoine d'Agata during the Rencontres d'Arles 2013 (mention in the signature - see photo).

The work of Antoine d'Agata has just been celebrated by the retrospective "Antibodies" at the BAL (Paris, 2013) whose eponymous catalog (Éditions Xavier Barral, 2013) received the Prix des Rencontres de Arles 2013.

Description de la copie proposée

d'Agata, Antoine

Antoine d'Agata is a fine art photographer best known for his work about city-roaming and the sensation of being lost or not belonging; it is almost always associated with a quest for sensations of the extreme in the night-life and low-life neighborhoods of large cities around the world, and coupled with drug use and prostitution...
