One of the classic photobooks in the series of small volumes of thematic photographs by Michael Wolf from the streets of Hong Kong. This series was a close collaboration between Michael Wolf and publisher Hannes Wanderer from Peperoni Books.
Michael Wolf lived in Hong Kong and walked the streets of the city for over 20 years, turning his eyes and lens to the habits and idiosyncrasies of the inhabitants and street sellers who spend their days and weeks usually on the same spot and leave some of their material tethered to fences, water pipes and other street furniture. Wolf's images always focus on the objects, and we never get to see the owners.
This title presents groups of coat hangers and single ones, alone and unused waiting for the next day, or carrying all types of working gear.

In this body of work, the artist documented life in a small mining town in the Ruhr District, a region he new quite well for having lived some time there. This "early" series (he was 22 at the time) shades a different light on Michael Wolf's work, as we are mostly familiar with his...
Excerpt from the text included in the book: "From his home on the Hong Kong island of Cheung Chau, Michael Wolf photographed sunrises every morning between 5.30 and 7.30 am. 25 Weeks of Winter is a small-format intimate diary about the end of a relationship. This book works really well, and - in...
