Text Calligraphy of an Enigma by Fabien Ribéry :

"This is the story of a chance encounter, a mad love, a path of desire connecting East and West. It is a story of grace, a story of flights that mustn’t be late. It is the music of the heart, the beating drum, set in the no-man’s land between empty and full, full and empty.

Olivier Brossard has put together a humble photobiography, an exploration of a lover’s body which, at its most intimate, carries the scent of a radically different culture. It is an ode to desire. Desire for a mouth, a lock of hair, an exposed back, a dragon, but also a desire for the city, for change, for delusion. For departures, expectations, reunions, and a room that moans softly. For heaven, sensuality, the fog of being, and for distance.

The photographer has created an entire cosmos of colliding and intersecting details, the result of which is effervescent, a sense of pleasure, an urgency, but also a sovereign calm. Art is a wound, is deliverance, a thing of power. Time stops, as if stripped, as if the present moment were revealing its true color.

Everything floats, yet everything is final. Jade is a fantasy, a persistent silence, a deluge of precious stones raining on the eyelids. The lovers, their passion ignited, remain oblivious to the fact that their attraction has the power to move the five sacred mountains.

To close in on the mystery, one must not fear enduring moments of madness, nor losing paradise. The most beautiful kind of love is that born of a mutual loneliness.

Olivier Brossard has discovered this for himself. And I do not believe he ever returned from the journey.

Some time ago I decided to rethink some of my projects and realize them in a new, more concentrated form of zines. In almost half a year I managed to implement this idea and today I am...

  • Project presentation by Christopher Héry: "22:19 illustrates the wide range of emotions - fear, boredom, camaraderie, relief - that two young men have experienced during an intense 8-minute period. This book has been designed to slowly reveal the location, the story, and its ending, to the viewer in a cinematographic manner. Time is the key element here...
