" « My goal is to create work in which every photograph is independent. This idea never changes. It is not my aim to depict for the purposes of explanation, or to illustrate with my photographs.
Infrastructure is the main subject of my photography. Often, infrastructure is treated as a burden on society, being recognised as the opposite of art in many circumstances. But infrastructure represents the time and space of the era, in various ways. It depends how you look at it. Infrastructure contains many elements of the landscape, and these are interesting subjects for me.
I have traveled all over Japan many times. But if I go over it closely, there are so many unknown places still that it makes me feel overwhelmed. It looks different in each season and the sunlight affects the scenery. An influence of my own condition varies the impression of the scene more. »
