"Anne-Lise Broyer, Nicolas Comment, Amaury da Cunha and Marie Maurel de Maillé decided to come together as a group, to think their images together, arrange them as an organic whole. They lived parallel or similar stories, despite the singularities they necessarily carry and despite the diversity of roads they took.

With Being Beauteous, they try to find a common photographic gesture. In this I see a way to reawaken a concept that has a great story, far from being obsolete; that of a « communauté ». After Georges Bataille, Jean-Luc Nancy and Maurice Blanchot, re-tying the loose ends. But as soon as the word is uttered, we stumble: we stumble against the wall of the lack of community. We are faced with the following questioning: if there is community, what are you defending? Are you thinking with a single and unique voice?

These questionings lead us away from the real issue, which is never reaching a truth – therefore the truth of the group or collective - but rather to experiment with possibilities. […]
