Text on the back cover:

This great classic among the photobooks is listed in "The Photobook: A History volume I" by Martin Parr & Gerry Badger.

Text in French only by Pablo Neruda.

The copy offered does include the card from the "Gouverneur du Crédit Foncier de France", following the funding by this institution to publish this book on the occasion of the exhibition of the series at the "Rencontres d'Arles" festival in 1991.

Condition of the copy:

 - The copy is in very good condition, with some of the usual handling marks and yellowing of the back (visible along the side of both covers). Lower edge and corners show minor rubbing.
- The name (actually a stamp) of the former owner has been erased on both front (at top) and back (at bottom) flaps. This was done in a rather clean manner, but the trace of it remains visible (see photos); also ink marks from these stamps are visible on the white page in front of each flap. No attempt to remove this ink has been made.
 - No folds, tears or other inscriptions or traces outside of those mentioned above.
 - Small bump to the lower left corner on the back cover.
 - Presence of a small imperfection in the very corner of the right top front cover (see 3rd image in the carrousel) : this is not a cut or tear, but rather an imperfection in the paper stock of the cover.

64 pages - Softcover with French flaps
