Publisher's presentation :
"ImageSingulières is a documentary photography festival created in Sète in 2009. Each year a photographer is invited to look at the city to gradually build his portrait, revealing the facets of contemporary photography.
Big names have given birth to seven books constituting a remarkable collection. A lesson in photography that shows that there are visual writings and that the same subject can be reinvented each time.
After Anders Petersen, Bertrand Meunier, Juliana Beasley, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto, Christopher Anderson, Cédric Gerbehaye and Richard Dumas, Bieke Depoorter, a young Belgian photographer from the Magnum agency, photographs the city of Sète. The singularity of her work, realized in color, is due to her approach: to photograph at night, with a great proximity, people she does not know and that she sometimes uses as staged model. The fleeting and intense moments she gives to see - always with kindness and without voyeurism - are so many visual poems that carry the viewer."
The imageSingulières festival takes place in Sète (South of France, on the Mediterranean Sea), from May 13th to May 31st, 2015.
The Bieke Depoorter exhibition is on display at the "Chapelle Haute".
