Publisher's presentation:
"Piémanson is an exploration of daily life on the last wild beach in France. The beach’s history began in the 1970s when locals set up camp there with no rights or deeds. Nowadays, thousands of campers from all over Europe get together every summer season, looking for a freedom that they can’t find anywhere else. Vasantha Yogananthan camped with the inhabitants of Piémanson for five summers, from 2009 to 2013. This book tells their story."

The book is based on a simple yet radical sequencing. From the 2500 pictures the photographer has shot over 5 summers, the book is presenting only 36 photographs. As a result the viewer finds himself immersed very directly to the heart of the story. Breathing spaces and white pages are used to reinforce the quietness and serenity coming from the pictures. Deliberately echoing the lo-fi elements of the beach camps, the binding is made out of gunny and the cover has a kind of sand-touch feeling. Also mirroring the DIY philosophy of the campers, all copies come with a small photo hand-pasted into the book."
With an essay by Rémi Coignet.
This Limited Edition book comes with a signed & numbered 20x25 cm Fine Art print. The last print available is titled "La Cabane" ("The Shack") (cf. Photos).
