Hartmann Books is a German publisher specializing in photobooks based in Stuttgart.


The artists and books published by Hartmann express a sensitivity to the themes of the ways of life as a society and the ways to inhabit the world, and Europe in particular.


Angelika and Markus Hartmann, co-founders of the publishing house state on the Hartmann website: « Our interests range from art, politics, socially relevant discussions, literature, history, architecture and theatre to more marginal topics such as disturbing films, beautiful racing bikes and ski jumping …. Much of this (but not all) is reflected in our program. »


Hartmann Books has published several books by "Ostkreuz - An Agency of photographers" and its members. The agency is home to photographers working between photo-journalism and long-term documentary projects.
