Tbilisi Photo Festival was co-founded by French photographer (and photo editor for the French newspaper Liberation) Lionel Charrier and the Georgian photo curator and journalist Nestan Nijaradze. The first season of the festival was in 2010, in partnership with the French festival Les Rencontres d’Arles. In 2018, it has become the most important photo festival in the region and a major cultural event in the whole Caucasus region.
